1. THERMAGE® FOR BODY

WHAT IS THERMAGE®?

Thermage uses radiofrequency energy to stimulate the collagen in the skin in order to tighten it. It helps to improve sagging or loose skin and gives a smoother, sleeker and more youthful look and feel. Results come in two phases. You will see an almost immediate effect due to the applied energy, but the formation of new and tighter collagen which  takes place over time will ensure a longer term effect of around 12 months. Latest developments include the patented Comfort Pulse Technology, which channels gentle vibrations, interspersed with cooling effects on the skin to reduce discomfort.  There is little or no down-time.

BODY RESHAPING WITH THERMAGE

2. MIRADRY

WHAT IS MIRADRY?

It is a non-invasive treatment that uses microwave energy to target and destroy sweat and odor glands in your underarm. The electromagnetic energy from the machine penetrates through the skin into the sweat glands below and is converted to heat energy that eliminates the sweat glands. This is a permanent process as once the glands are destroyed they do not grow back.

THINGS TO NOTE BEFORE THE TREATMENT:

An anaesthetic cream is used to numb the area before treatment, but you may experience discomfort in your armpits for several days after treatment, although you are able to return to work or resume regular activity immediately. Exercise and vigorous activity should be avoided for the first three days to give the area time to heal. While there have been no reports of permanent side effects, some patients experience short-term altered sensation in the skin of their underarms or upper arms, which gradually disappears.” Data from the University of British Columbia, showed that MiraDry was successful in reducing underarm sweat in over 90 percent of patients with a reported average sweat reduction of 82 percent. WHY CHOOSE MIRADRY?

Individuals who have a problem with overly sweaty underarms will greatly appreciate this treatment and results can be seen after just one or two visits.  As the sweat glands do not grow back, the results last. However, speak with our doctors to determine if the treatment is suitable for you. In addition to destroying sweat glands, miraDry has also been proven to eliminate odor-causing glands in the underarms, making it the first FDA-cleared device available to halt unwanted underarm sweat and hair growth while also eliminating odor-producing glands.

Moles Tags

3. REMOVAL OF MOLES & SKIN TAGS

Moles are skin growths made up of cells that produce color (pigment) and can be found on all areas of the body. Most moles are harmless and can be removed by a doctor for cosmetic reasons. Skin tags are harmless small, soft pieces of skin that stick out on a thin stem and they are commonly found on the neck, armpits, upper trunk, and body folds. Our doctors remove these harmless moles and skin tags in a safe, fast and effective way, using the following procedures:

  • Excision -  Skin tags may be snipped off with a scalpel or surgical scissors. Some moles may have cells that go underneath the skin, so your doctor might make a deeper cut to remove the entire mole and prevent it from growing back. This cut may require stitches.

  • Electrocautery – Using an electric current through a wire to burn off the upper layers of the skin. More than one treatment might be required to remove a mole. Skin tags are removed by burning through the narrow stem that attaches them to the skin. The heat also helps prevent bleeding.

  • Laser – Carbon dioxide laser or Smartxide Laser can also be used as a means of non-surgcial mole removal

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

The procedure may cause mild discomfort, but your doctor will numb the area with an anesthetic before he or she begins. If the procedure causes any bleeding, your doctor may apply a medicine that helps stop the bleeding. Then he or she will put a bandage on it. These procedures usually leave no scars or marks.

SUSPICIOUS MOLES

While most moles are harmless, it is worth noting that some moles may actually be pre-cancerous as skin cancer is the 6th/7th commonest cancer in the country.

Moles with different colours, or which bleed or appear to have changed its appearance should be treated with suspicion. Likewise if there is a discharge or if the mole appears to be growing, a visit to the doctor if advisable to remove and biopsy, i.e. sending the specimen to a medical laboratory for testing.
