Childhood & Adolescence
Introduce children to dentistry early to give them a positive start to dental care. Preventive dentistry may include fissure sealants to protect new permanent teeth and fluoride coatings to prevent decay. Assess jaw development to plan for braces if needed. Decay should be treated early with high fluoride fillings.
Wisdom teeth may require removal typically between the ages of 16 and 21.
Our approach is to restore your dental health using minimally invasive techniques, preserving as much of your natural tooth as possible. Modern technology now allows tooth coloured porcelain fillings or “inlays” to be done to replace lost tooth structure conservatively.
If the decay is extensive, root canal treatment can be performed to preserve the tooth, and extraction done only when necessary.
Dental Implants are the most sophisticated way of replacing missing teeth and is today regarded as the preferred form of tooth replacement. It is a permanent fixed alternative to removable dentures and functions like your own teeth. It is comfortable, feels natural and allows you to enjoy your food better. With new surgical techniques and intra-venous sedation, it is now a much simplified and almost painless procedure.
An implant comprises 3 parts. The first part or “fixture”, which is made of titanium, is placed within bone to replace the roots of missing teeth. The second part or “abutment” emerges through the gums and is used to carry the 3rd part, which is the crown, bridge or denture depending on how many teeth are missing. The use of tooth-coloured materials such as porcelain and zirconia provide aesthetic outcomes and pleasing smiles.
Titanium Dental Implants
If teeth are extracted due to decay or as the result of an injury, implants may be used to replace the missing teeth. The current surgical techniques and intravenous sedation may reduce pain and the final result can replicate nature in both function and appearance. The process comprises two stages: the surgical placement of a titanium implant, and the delivery of replacement teeth, after a healing period of 3-6 months.
When teeth are missing or extracted, the jawbone in which it is anchored to can be lost as well. The overlying gum also recedes, reducing the amount of support for the face and lips. This often creates an aged appearance. As bone is required to place implants, there is a need to “grow back the bone”. Thankfully, even if teeth have been lost for a long time, implants can still be placed after regenerating the jaw bone using a combination of bone grafts and special membranes.
Immediate Teeth Replacement with Temporary Cosmetic Solution
In some cases, a missing tooth can be replaced with an implant and a temporary crown on the day of the extraction, if the remaining bone is sound. However, the adjacent teeth are often needed to support a temporary bridge to close the space. With the current computer assisted techniques, we are able to place the temporary bridge shortly after the surgery. Once the new bone is fully formed and the healing process is complete, permanent crowns can then be fixed.
A smile is the first thing you see when you meet a person. In this day and age, how we look is very important for our social life and confidence. It is not merely about vanity as it also affects our personal and professional relationships.
The position of your teeth and jaw affects the contours of your face and the fullness of your lips. A dental adjustment can improve your overall appearance.
Whether you wish to whiten your teeth, change their shape, size or alignment, re-sculpt your gums or adjust the bite, we are committed to helping you gain the look you wish for. Listed below are the different techniques our dentists may use:

Porcelain Fillings ("Inlays')
Decayed teeth were traditionally filled with metals which contained silver and mercury and became discoloured over time. As the result of a desire for more aesthetic and biocompatible materials, tooth-coloured fillings were developed but though still widely used today, they lack strength and longevity when the cavity to be filled is large.
In recent years, research in material science and 3D scanning technology has resulted in the ability to produce natural looking fillings made from porcelain and zirconia which are also strong and durable. These "inlays" are made from pre-fabricated blocks with the aid of computers for accuracy and precision fit.
Teeth become discoloured for many reasons. While some of these stains are superficial, others affect the entire body of the tooth and have a deep discolouration which cannot be removed either by conventional cleaning or tooth whitening procedures.
In such cases, we would need to remove the outer discoloured layer and replace it with a new outer "shell" termed a veneer. The procedure is fairly conservative though some trimming of the tooth surface is required. The veneer is then fabricated with the help of a computer and made from either porcelain or zirconia.
Dental crowns are thin shields of porcelain or zirconia that fit over cracked or broken teeth in order to rebuild them to its original form. In the past, metal or gold was often used but in today's age of social media, tooth-coloured materials which are strong, yet aesthetic is the popular choice. They are also known as “caps” and besides protecting teeth that are weak, can also be used to change the shape, size and colour of teeth for cosmetic dental purposes.
A dental crown can be made from different materials depending on function and budget. Traditional crowns using metal alone, or in combination with porcelain (porcelain-fused-to-metal) generally cost less. While it is still commonly used, the trend is towards using tooth-coloured materials such as full-ceramic (porcelain) or zirconia that look more natural. In addition, through using 3D computer technology to design and make these new generation crowns, the waiting time is far less as they can now be made within a day or two, and in some cases within 3 hours.
A dental bridge is a long-term replacement for spaces between teeth as the result of tooth loss. The teeth on both sides of the gap are prepared to support a framework on which new teeth are mounted. This is then fixed in position using a special cement and does not need to be removed at night, unlike removable dentures.
Dental bridges are also more stable, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing than dentures. Bridges prevent teeth from drifting, restore chewing and speaking ability, and improve your smile. They also help provide lip support and restore your facial contours and profile. Bridges can be used on natural teeth or dental implants. Bridges last on an average between 7-10 years though some may last for up to 15 years or more.
With time, our teeth may become discoloured due to smoking, food stains and some medications. We can lighten the colour of your teeth through laser whitening. If the stains are very deep, porcelain veneers or crowns may also be used.
We offer effective teeth straightening solutions for patients of all ages, including braces and removable teeth aligners such as Invisalign®. For older patients, porcelain veneers and crowns can also be used to close gaps and modify facial proportions.
Invisalign® is a method of straightening crooked teeth without using traditional braces and does not involve metal brackets and wires. Instead, it uses 3D computer imaging technology to make a series of clear and almost invisible slingers which can be removed when you have dinner or special occasions.
They are comfortable to wear as they fit over your teeth while they gently align and guide to guide and move them into the ideal position. Invisalign® is ideal for working adults as it does not disrupt your work or social life. It can also be used for children to influence jaw growth (Invisalign® First), and also for teenagers who need braces.
