Computed Tomography (CT) Scan Singapore
What is a CT Scan?
CT scan uses advanced computer technology to provide detailed 3-dimensional images of our body. It can give your doctor a clear view of your internal organs, bones and soft tissue and can help diagnose disease, trauma or abnormalities very rapidly.
New generation machines can also provide an accurate view of the arteries supplying your heart to help assess for any narrowing or blockage of the vessels supplying your heart. These newer machines also expose our patients to a far lower dose of radiation.
Why do you need a CT scan?
CT scans provide detailed views of the different tissues in your body, such as the heart, lungs, bones and soft tissues. It can even give you a cross-sectional view of your blood vessels. This can alert you to any health issues you may have early, and so allow to seek the necessary treatment.
For patients with heart disease, the CT scan can detect your calcium levels and so give you an early assessment of your risk of heart disease. It can even determine to a great amount of accuracy the extent of blockage in your heart vessels. For patients who have had a stroke, CT scan can help identify the location of the blockage or bleed in the brain that caused the stroke. CT scan also allows your doctor to identity both normal and abnormal structures in a painless, non-invasive and accurate manner.
What to expect during a CT scan in Singapore?
A CT scan is a non-invasive test which usually takes less than 15 minutes. You will be asked to lie on your back on a table that moves in and out of a large tunnel tunnel that contains the x-ray scanner. If you are taking images of your body, you will need to fast for at least 4 hours before the scan.
