CT Lung Screening

What is CT Lung Screening?
A CT scan uses X-ray technology and computer processing to create cross-sectional images of the lungs and surrounding structures.
CT lung imaging may identify structural findings such as:
Lung nodules
Changes in lung tissue
Other abnormalities within the chest
Who May Consider Lung Screening?
Lung CT screening may be considered by individuals who:
Have a history of long-term smoking
Have been exposed to certain environmental or occupational risk factors
Wish to include lung imaging as part of a health screening programme
Individuals who are experiencing symptoms such as persistent cough, chest discomfort, or unexplained weight loss should consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice.
What to Expect During the Scan?
You will lie on a CT scanning table while the scanner rotates around the chest area
You may be asked to hold your breath briefly during the imaging process
CT imaging involves the use of X-rays.
Preparation instructions may include:
Wearing comfortable clothing without metal objects
Informing staff if you are pregnant or may be pregnant
Additional instructions may be provided before the scan if necessary.
